This is a one-off design which met the clients brief of a practical but unique structure. The courtyard was an irregular shape. The structure had to straddle both sides of the courtyard and protect two sets of doorways.  The cantilevered structure melds beautifully with the austere red brick walls of the school in Sydney. Striking and functional this 2nd story courtyard is now a welcoming and cool place for senior students to learn. Today’s definition of outdoor space is much more exciting and open.

The project won an Australian Institute of Landscape Design and Management Gold Award in Education, Australian Specialised Textiles Award for Special Commendation for Tension Structure under 2000sm.
