Albury Sailor Soldiers & Airmen's Club

The client's brief was to construct outdoor areas which would be attractive and integral to the club's refurbishment. The total project comprised three parts totaling 500sm - a waterproof barrel vault canopy with clear PVC drop blinds over a raised deck; a large curved awning; and a waterproof structure over the kiddies playground equipment.

Challenges to overcome were to fit a barrel vault structure into a very awkward space which made symmetry impossible and to aesthetically intersect a large awning to the barrel vault structure. The final design of the main structure consisted of a tapered curved roof frame, and uprights which were off-centre to the roof. Each curved beam in the roof frame were unique and each upright post was unique. The finished product however, achieved the desired outcome of looking symmetrical.

The awning design was curved upwards from the building and did not clash with with the barrel vault structure. This was only achievable using Autocad design. The new look outdoor building & landscaping design is very appealing and extra patronage is assured.
